This 2026 Sweetheart Dance brought together an unforgettable evening filled with music and fun for dozens of families at Monsignor Slade Catholic School right before Valentine's Day. It's always a pleasure to support this school and their home and school association. This is the second straight year I've DJ'd the dance, and one of many times I've provided support for the school at large. In addition to my setup on the raised platform in the gym, the school had a photo booth down the hall and any myriad of snacks. Kids and parents hung out, danced, and enjoyed the evening.

Lights and lasers were the stars of the night for this Sweetheart Dance.
Lighting
I decided to up the ante a bit this time around and dabblle with some of my club lighting. You know ... for the kids. I rocked out a pair of Chauvet 375x moving heads and Chauvet Intimidator Hybrid 140 moving head -- all on the stage; along with two dual beam Chauvet Scorpion lasers on respective speakers, all mixed together with a little haze. Kids went wild over the effect. An area to consider for next time, in full disclosure, is to add some floor wash lights -- if nothing else to add more illumination to the dancefloor when the moving heads aren't pointed there -- but this was more so me offering the cocktail of lights at no charge to dabble with a design I had in my head and try it out for other events.
Sound
On the sound side I flexed the wattage muscles a little since I knew I had a few independent circuits at my disposal and used an all passive setup with JBL SRX 722s as the tops and a pair of SRX 718s's -- all powered by a CVR 1004 4-channel amp. Perfect amount of output for the gym.
Final Thoughts
The 2026 Sweetheart Dance delivered a memorable evening filled with music, connection, and celebration. It is always thrill to support Monsignor Slade, a school that has meant so much to my family over the years. I was glad the families enjoyed their time once more --
On to the next one ...
